All about Kim

My name is Kim (상미).

I’m a Freelance graphic designer based in Berlin, Germany. Since 2007, I have been designing visual identities, publications, websites, apps, and communication materials for clients in the cultural, educational, and creative sectors.
I studied at AKI ArtEZ Academie voor Art & Design in Enschede and graduated from Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, where I focused on typography and editorial design. Questions of identity, belonging, and personal history have accompanied me throughout my life. Adopted in 1977, I grew up in a small village, surrounded by fields, familiar faces, and the quiet rhythms of rural life. My story unfolds somewhere between loss and new beginnings. These experiences continue to shape the way I think, observe, and create.

DESIGN & YOGA

→ DESIGN has always been more than visual communication. It is a way of exploring ideas that cannot always be expressed in words. Through design, I became interested in how identity is formed, how memories are preserved, and how stories can be translated into meaningful visual experiences.

→ YOGA, alongside my work as a designer, has become an important part of my life. It has given me structure and space to purify my mind. Lastly, the courage to embrace change. It’s an everyday process!
